Testi Coffee is owned by the Yonis family who started off as coffee producers themselves in the 1970s and now independently run various washing stations in Sidama, Yirgacheffe, Limu, and of course Guji - where Bishan Dimo is found in the Shakiso region. This area is a combination of outstretched hills and mountains that gives the impression of a flat terrain when in fact you are at heights up to 2000 masl.
The Bishan Dimo washing station opened in 2017 and is managed by brothers Faysel and Hakime Yonis. Although a relatively new site, it has already produced several stunning washed and natural lots. The site is surrounded by 800+ smallholder families each with an average of five children. The small plots, typically 1.5 hectares, are located at 1850 to 2050 masl. Coffee trees are shaded by false banana plants and semi-forests which engulf their farms.
Testi’s washing stations are renowned for producing exceptional quality beans with diligent attention paid to sorting and screening coffee cherries. As of 2018, Testi launched the Premium Cherry Selection project at every one of their washing stations, which fully controls all aspects of harvest and processing in order to maintain coffee quality at every step. They also focus on building long term relationships with their producers not only by securing them high prices for their coffees but also by creating social programs which provide for basic needs such as education, health, and suitable drinking water in order to build stronger communities.
We knew immediately upon first taste that we had to bring you this beautiful coffee - so sweet and jammy with notes of berries, stone fruit, vanilla, and florals in the finish. We can't wait for you to try it!
