With a blossoming specialty coffee scene, Oaxaca recently has been gaining recognition for producing some of the very best cups in Mexico.  With 16 distinct indigenous groups, many of which grow coffee, the region is incredibly diverse from an environmental, climatic, and social perspective.  Production here is still overwhelmingly driven by original lines of Bourbon and Typica, including the unique Pluma variety in the southern coastal mountains, which is where San Andres Cabecera Nueva is located.

However, a lack of formal producer associations create logistical and cost-of-production challenges which make sourcing these unique coffees from Oaxaca extremely difficult.  But these challenges are exactly what excites and drives our friends at Red Fox Coffee Merchants.  With a quality control lab in Oaxaca, they are now able to work directly with producers in key communities who voluntarily act as point of contact for their community, coordinating details and acting as a go-between.

And because of this hard work sourcing these coffees, we are able to bring to you this delicious cup from San Andres Cabecera Nueva, located in the southern mountains of Oaxaca.  Unbelievably sweet, juicy yet creamy with notes of cantaloupe, vanilla, and amber honey, this vibrant coffee is truly special so please sip and enjoy!
